HI, THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN ASKED A FEW TIMES BUT I CANT SEEM TO FIND AN ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION.
MY GPSLIM236 IS INSTALLED ON COM11 BUT GPSVIEWER DOES NOT SEARCH UP TO COM11. IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN RECONFIGURE IT ON TO A LOWER COM PORT? |

It might help if you can tell us what hardware you are using (I presume it's a PDA or Smartphone) and what OS it is running.
You may also have better luck contacting the author of GPSViewer and ask if the program can be modified to recognise a larger variety of COM ports. _________________ Gone fishing! |

Well I'm using GPSVIEWER on my PC obviously.
The actual program doesn't need modifying, I just need to know how to set it up on a lower COM PORT. I'm sure it can be done. |

Hardly obvious, as I use the same program on both my PDA's and PC, although it works in the same way on both platforms with respect to the ports numbering up to ten.
On your PC how many other Bluetooth devices have you already "connected" to the PC, it might be possible to delete some of these existing Bluetooth devices from the PC then create a new connection for the 236, it should give it a lower number, I have both GPslim236 units connected to my PC running on COM8 and 9 with no problems. youd need to reassign the com port from 11 to another value _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Good bye IOS don't let the door hit you on the way out .

I run GPS Viewer on my Smartphone so it wasn't that obvious to me!
OK so what OS are you running on your PC. Windows 95, 98 ME, NT, 2000, XP, 2003 or perhaps you are running Windows emulation under Linux?
Depending of which version of Windows you may be able to change the COM port number in the device manger... I can do it on my XP box. _________________ Gone fishing! |
