I'm going to California in a few weeks time. Does anyone know if I can get a map that will allow me to use TTN2 there? _________________ Tim |

No, TTN2 isn't out in the US at the moment, trials will take place over the next month, you might be lucky enough to get onto one of these trials, but other than that you'll need to purchase another product whilst you're out there. |

I'm going to California in June too. Covering CA, Nevada and Arizona. How do you go about getting on the trials. Contact TomTom direct?
Cheers

Thanks Darren.
I've completed the form but the test dates don't appear to coincide with my travel dates, but like you said nothing ventured....

Clem,
Let us know how you get on as I am travelling the same area in July/August for a month and would like to have some form of satnav similar to my TT2 set up at home.
I am even looking into purchasing a Navman 3420 just for this Holiday.
By the way does anyone know if the Navman 3420 will work OK with my rather old Ipaq 3650? (only 32mb but not much on it as it is used mainly as a Satnav screen in the car)
Thanks
Shaun |

Mcdig,
Late reply but here goes - I travelled to California, Nevada and Arizona a few weeks ago. Use Destinator 2 with a Navman sleeve in NMEA mode.
Boy did we have problems - it really does work in NMEA mode and loses the sat lock indefinitely and randomly. I say random but it seemed to happen when we really needed guidance. Sods law I guess. When it did work it was very good. Clear 3d view, excellent POI, voice directions, good map database, etc.
Since we've been back I've switched the Navman sleeve into sirf mode and it works fine now. Doh!
Anyhow, if you can't get hold of TomTom USA I'd recommend Destinator, in Sirf mode that is.
