Convince me why I should buy TomTom GO300 instead of Garmin StreetPilot C320/C330.

I am new to these in car all in one GPS devices so I did a bunch of research and read a lot of reviews.

Since I do most of the driving in Canada and some in the US, I have narrow down to TomTom GO 300 and Garmin StreetPilot C320 or C330.

After reading a how bunch of reviews, I am leaning more towards the Garmin C320/C330 because of the follow.
1. It has 64K colors, tomtom go 300 only has 4096.
2. The POI and map accuracy seems to be better than tomtom.
3. People have less complaint about viewing the garmin screen under the sun than tomtom.
4. A lot of people complaint about the tomtom maps to be very out dated.
5. I have read lots and lots of review about customer support from tomtom just SUCKs big time.

However, I do like the style of the tomtom go better than the garmin streetpilot, but I do not need the bluetooth capabilities of the tomtom go 300. Lastly, I have also read that tomtom uses Telealais for the maps and it isn't as good as the other format that Garmin uses.

Any advise or recommendations will be appreciated. Thanks.

The GO 300 doesn't have Bluetooth - you would need the GO 700 for that.

The UI on the GO is far superior to that on the Garmin. If that's not a deciding factor for you, go with the Garmin.

(other (small) factors are the customizability (custom POIs, POI warnings, sounds etc) as well as the fact that you can extend the GO's functionality through external programs (try that on a locked down Garmin...)

The 300 actually does have Bluetooth, it's just not hands free like in the 700. Here's the description of it from the TT website: Built-in Bluetooth connection for use with your Bluetooth-enabled device.

that's right, my fault. But since there's no traffic service in the US/Canada that would be worth speaking of this dial up BT connection is pretty much useless here.

I also see that there are lot more poeple posting in the tomtom go section than the garmin section in this forum. I guess if I decide to go with the tomtom go, it will be much easier to find answers here.

One other thing, how much does it cost to get tomtom go maps updated for US & Canada? And where is the best/cheapest place to buy them?

Also, from tomtom's website, I see that the bluetooth connection for the Go 300 can be used to get real time traffic info via BT GPRS mobile phone in major US cities, how well does it work and will be cost a fortune on my phone bill?

Thanks again.

Is there a free month long trial of TomTom Traffic Plus that comes with the 300 or 700 in the States? I know both are capable and ready for service, but for some reason, I was thinking there was a trial period. Am I right on this?

I have both TomTom 500 and Garmin c320 and would definitly go for the Garmin as well. Easier to use, maps and routes more accurate and better customer services. All in all more value for the money. More bells & whistles as well customisation options for TomTom but not really worth the extra money.
