I have the above GPS / PDA from Palm which utilises the ViaMichelin Navigation 3.1 software.

With this particular package, the Kirrio GPS receiver is built into the cradle. Kirrio has confirmed that the communication protocol is NMEA 0183 v2.2

GPS: Activated
Port: 1
Speed: 4800 bauds

I have installed TT Navigator 5 on my palm but cannot get the softWare to communicate with the inbuilt GPS. ( The software has been tested with a bluetooth reciever and worked - so there is no problem with the software)

Both Kirrio and TomTom support have been contacted but neither party wanted to help. Kirrio states that they support TT software (understandably) and TT say I should get GPS support from Kirrio.

Can anybody help?

My questions are as follows :

1. Is the communication protocol compatible with TT5?

2. I have been through set up procedures on TT, configured GPS to 'Other Cable NMEA GPS' and set baud rate to 4800 but software does not recognise a GPS receiver present. How can I get the software to communicate with the inbuilt receiver via the cradle connection? Is a device driver required e.g GPStool.prc which was installed with Via Michilen?

3. What settings do I need to make on palm, if any? Question

Thanks

Steven

1. yes
2. who knows, GPSTool.prc may actually prevent TomTom from seeing the receiver. Try with and without.
3. see 2. other than that it should work

See if Mapopolis works with that receiver.
