I currently use TomTom 5 on a Sony Clie UX50, with a Holux GR-230 Bluetooth GPS. My two main problems are:
- time taken for the Holux to pick up an initial signal (anything from a few minutes to half an hour)
- frequent loss of bluetooth connection between the UX50 and the Holux.

I've decided to move to an all-in-one solution (to eliminate the bluetooth connectivity issues). I'm considering the HP iPaq 6515 with built-in GPS, but was wondering whether a dedicated solution such as TomTom Go would give better GPS performance? (time to get a fix is a major factor, particularly in the London area).

Could anyone advise on the relative GPS performance of these two units?

Main factors you need to consider are:

What type of GPS hardware are in the units you want to compare (all the tomtom only use Sirf II chipsets) when most units are moving to SirfStar III.

Do you require the functions of the PDA (calendar, contacts, emails etc)?
A standalone unit in most cases should be faster routing and calculating due to it is single tasking.

It really all comes down to what you really want satnav or combination

I need a new PDA in any case, and want one with a QWERTY keyboard, which is why I'm looking at the HP 6515 since it also has on-board GPS. Judged purely as a PDA I think there may be better options than the HP, however, so if the GPS receiver is going to be sub-standard, then I'd prefer to go with separate stand-alone GPS and PDA units (e.g. TomTom Go plus Treo for example).
