First & foremost I would like to say hi to everyone as I’m a new member here. Which is going to lead me to a question some of you may have the answer to, so here goes.
HP Ipaq 2210 – TomTom Navigator 5 with 5.1 update – Globalsat br-305
The problem is this?
I have installed TomTom 5 with the update 5.1 and all seems o.k on the pda. When it comes to loading the software off the Globsat cd it first downloads onto the pc and then automatically onto the pda via sync. Reading the info on the disc it says I should be able to check that the gps is working by going into gps info on the pda and clicking I think it’s the search button, which I do. Problem is when I press the search button it does nothing, but the grp does have the red light on, but not flashing. It is also not possible to check com ports as it always reverts to com1.
Thinking maybe I do not have to do this I then go into TomTom to select gps receiver that is hooked up. Hell I have no idea what the correct port should be but have tried them all, but the dreaded “no gps device” is all it says.
Is there anyone out there who can shed some light on this for me as to where I may be setting it up wrongly, and if you do know please explain it like I’m a 10yr old.
Many thanks

How have you configured the GPS, try "Other wired NMEA GPS", then select the correct Baud speed (check the documentation it came with or look for the manual on the CD for it), at the next screen select Serial Cable on COM1. Then with it all plugged up and running sit with it for around ten min with a clean line of sight to the sky - it could take as long as this to acheive lock on for the first time. - Mike |
