Quick Q

Hi
Finally got it all working great...used the most obvious setting of "GPS ON NAVIGATOR"
now works great BUT!!!!!!
everytime i load tomtom i have to reselect the gps on navigator as it keeps defaulting to usb..even though the nmea 9600 bit stays as it should |

|

Step by step guide.
After installing TT5 go to the GPS screen and select configure.
Select "Other Cable NMEA"
Then set baud to 9600
Then select port as GPS on Navigator
Then go back to the GPS status screen. The black and yellow (looks like radioactive) symbol in the top right corner should be rotating which means that data is being received.
If not the GPS receiver is turned of. To turn on and whilst in TT5 press the bottom right action button which is Today/Home . This shows the windows today screen.
Select Start - Settings and then the system tab, appx 1/3 way downs is a gps icon. Select this and you are presented with a screen with 2 buttons on and off. Press then On button ( this screen is pretty poor and gives you no feedback as to wether the action performed has had an effect ). Close the windows until you are back to the today screen. In the bottom task bar you should see the hands for tomtom. Tap this and TT5 will reappear, still at the GPS screen, the symbol shoul now be spinning.
Go outside and wait for a lock, initially it can take a good 10 minutes but is subsequently much quicker.
The power to the gps receiver can be switched on and off. Smart ST does this automatically turning it on when you start the app and off when you close. TT5 can not do this so it has to be done manually.
Incidentaly I have also upgraded to TT 5.1 which is supposed to provide better support for 3rd party gps units, i dont know if this upgrade has an effect.
I also removed the ferry maps and N.Ireland from Smart ST and this left just enough room on the 256 card supplied with the pin 570 to put the TT5 uk map, and speed cameras to both apps (only appx 300kb left on the card).
Hope this helps.
