When the new Mio 269+, with upgraded software (v2) and maps, finally comes on the market in October, will it be a better buy than the Navman 520. Question

The ICN 520 is much smaller in size than the Mio 269+, but maintains a similar screen size. The software on the ICN 520 is much better IMO, and easier to use - however the coverage is not as wide spread. With the standard ICN 520 you get UK coverage, where as with the 269+ you get European coverage for slightly more cash. If you want want EU coverage on the 520 you're looking at paying a much larger premium.

Hope this helps.

What is your budget and do you need Euro Maps?

Budget is around the £400 mark, and will certainly use it in France. I think what I'm really looking for is a GPS which is reliable, accurate and value for money. Asking too much Question

The Navman ICN 520 Premium comes with full European maps and i would say its your best choice, its slightly over your budget.

The TomTom GO 500 is just over your budget and it comes with Major Roads of Europe (if that would be enough map coverage for France for you)

I would say if you can't stretch your budget then the mitac 269 is another option

I have never used these units personally in France but i have used them in the UK and i would say Navman and TomTom are the most user friendly of the 3 and i would say that if you need FULL street level mapping then the Navman ICN is the better suited for your needs.

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot for your help. One last question, do you know what the improvements will be on the 269+ ( v2 software ), over the standard 269? If there isn't a great deal of improvement I'll try and stretch the budget to the 520.
Thanks again.

the major difference is the software on the Mio is Navigon and it will be the newer version of Navigon 5.1
