Hello all.

I am now still using TT USA ver 2.4 and TT maps of Western Europe. I spend 3-4 months a year in Europe Smile The system works, however the maps are a bit outdated.

I had upgraded to TT 2004 but was dismayed to find out I could no longer use the Maps of Western Europe (MOWE).
Through emails and phone calls TT told me there would be an update for the MOWE, there never was , so I had to re-install TT 2.4.

I now have the upgrade to TT Ver 5 but will not install it till I know I can use MOWE.

Does anyone know if TT will upgrade or issue a new Maps Of Western Europe for use with TT 5 for us in the USA that need it?

The program is not bound to the maps. You can use TTN5 both with the NA maps and the Europe maps, provided you have valid licenses for both map sets.

Technically it does work - verified it on my recent trip to Europe.

Thank you for the reply.

However TT does not agree with you, as they have told me that the Maps Of Western Europe from ver 2.4 will not work with TT 4 or 5 on my registered & licensed TT products. They are supposed to be doing a update or a new install for the MOWE.

I did install TT 4 and it would not read the MOWE that TT 2.4 did.

Sorry I should have been more explicit. I mean v5 maps, on both sides of the pond.

Yes, each of the country maps now has a "Plus" version which basically combines the detailed country map with what you call MOWE.

Say you have the Benelux map - it also comes as Benelux Plus and will contain all highways/motorways and other major roads of all of Europe.

Thank you for the info.

So do I now have to purchase TT plus and new Plus maps to make this work?

Thank you again.

I have emailed TT

In searching their site, I see the plus maps are sold by CITY. As there are a lot of cities in Western Europe, I think it would be cumbersome and expensive.

I don't think you want those. Those plus maps are part of TomTom Plus Services, like Traffic.

What I think you need is the full 6 CD collection of Maps of Western Europe.

On the CD's are Plus and non-Plus Maps for each area.

The non-Plus Map is country specific.

The Plus Map is country specific but with an intergrated Major Roads of Europe.

This is so that you are able to navigate across Europe on the Major Roads without having to Change Maps. These extended maps do not have street level navigation except in the specified country.

Looking back at a previous post, you state that you already have the MOWE in a previous version. Surely you should be able to upgrade this to V5 maps.

I am going to France next month for a few weeks, can someone confirm what 'extra' maps I'll need for street level mapping??

Will I need something like France_plus??

thanks.

Either the France or the France Plus would be OK.

The advantage of the Plus map is that you won't have to swap maps as you cross the channel. Although you would have plenty of time!

It depends how you bought them. If you have them on a SD card then they are pre-activated. If you have them as part of MOWE it will need acivating for the first map installed only.

Does this mean if I have already activated GB_plus on my SD card then the MOWE will work or do you mean I have to activate one of the MOWE first?
thanks.
