I have just read the following regarding the firmware upgrade on easydevices website:-

"THIS FIRMWARE UPGRADE WILL NOT:

Change the current function of the “Auto Shut-Off” to activate after 10 min if no Bluetooth connection is present to conserve battery life. This feature is NOT correctable with any firmware upgrades, it is a hardware design with plans to modify the function as a running change on production units by the end of the year. "

Why would you want to alter this functionality - it sounds like a great power saving idea. What am I missing here??

a number of people have considered permanently installing the device in the car. This is generally a bad idea with devices that have a software power button - you need to press that button each time you want to use the receiver, instead of switching it on via the ignition.

And now, even if you would power it permanently, the BT-338 switches off anyhow after 10 minutes. So when you have a short break in your journey you will need to press the button again upon return.

That's kinda ok when the receiver sits on the dash, but it becomes unworkable with the receiver located in the back of the car etc.

THe BT-338 is a fantastic receiver, it's just not at all suited for permanent installation.
