Navigator 5 map updates

First post & first question
How often do tomtom update the maps in their software ? I ask because where I live ( Bingley, West Yorkshire ), there is a relief road that has been open for approx 18 months, but when I drive on it the display shows no road, as though I have gone off-roading.
I have version 5 installed on a Mio 168.

Have a read of the TeleAtlas visit that the guys behind PGPSW recently did - it explains why updates to maps are painfully slow at appearing.
