I'm struggling to find out how a V37 Viewsonic can be hooked up to my serial gps device?
The comparison chart has a big green tick for serial devices but I cant for the life of me work out how it can be done.
Does anyone here have any idea please?
Regards

Yes it can.
What GPS do you have or want to hook up? _________________ Pc-Mobile

I'm trying to use the serial feed from the Road Angel that I have.
I've used this feed in the past to plot progress and position on a laptop with Autoroute so it occured to me I could do similar if I have TomTom on my Viewsonic V37 pda reading its serial port for a device sending EMEA?? data.
If the Viewsonic does have a serial port I just need to discover it I guess? |

It occured to me that you may not recognise the Road Angel device. Its a self contained dashboard top device with a GPS receiver in it. As you go down the road it references your position and alarms if you are approaching the vicinity of a known speed camera or other hazard in its database.
Its a usefull device and works well, resulting in my having a clean license at last :-)
One of its facilities is that it can make the GPS data available out the back via a female 9 pin rs232 connection.
I'm a dab hand with a soldering iron, breakout box etc so am happy to cut and splice a cable once I know what its outputs are.... and there lies the tricky bit eh! |
