Mio 168 / TT5 keeps loosing position

I recieved my Mio 168 / TT5 on 5th August, it has worked fine until last Friday 19th August when it started suddenly loosing its position even though the signal indicator was showing max reception. It happened comming home from work, a journey it had made several times before without a problem.

I have just returned from a journey to Guildford and this problem occured well over a dozen times, on the open road the position indicator would suddenly jump into a field and remain there until it met a road then the route would be re-calculated from this point. In Guildford it kept jumping to nearby roads and then re-calculating from these points, this ment that it was next to useless, I eventually found my destination by guessing which turns to make.

In all cases the reception indicator was showing max or near max reception. Nothing had been done to the software or PDA before this started happening.

Can anyone sugest what is going wrong?

I can't suggest what is wrong other then you have a faulty gps, have you tried using the external antenna just to see if it improves?
