Cant connect wired GPS to XDA II & TT5

Need some help with my configuration?
I have TT5 and TT3 (earlier).
I recently purchased a wired GPS device from ebay.
When I power the gps device, it has an LED indicating that it is ON.
When I now go to TT5 and try to select "Other NMEA GPS Device" it asks me for baud rate and com port.
Unfortunately I dont have any documentation of the GPS. Hence I tried witth 2400, 4800 & 9600 along with Serial com port on COM1 and Serial on USB.
But it does not work.
Is there some software out there that can be used to test my GPS device connection.

Please help me !!!

I trust you have gone into the settings, connections tab then select IRdA and de-select "recieve all beams" check box, if this is selected (which it is by default) it will bar the serial port from being used - Mike
