Just wondering how acurate the USA Maps are for Florida?.

Was over there earlier this year, plan to go back again next year. But did notice a lot of road building going on around Orlando.

So was wondering if anyone has used a TTG 500 over there yet?.

I have just purchased the USA maps and am going to Orlando on wednesday so will let you know how well it works.
I have read somewhere else that it seems pretty good. There is also a car hire place that has now started renting them out to people going on holiday to Orlando so it must be pretty accurate considering how much they are charging (£40 per week)

I have used the original go over there, plus TTN5 on the PDA with the current maps back in January during a beta test. Navigating around Florida is fine. We didnt go to Orlando this time Miami and the Florida Keys.

There are some potential routing issues which favour freeways in preferance to major roads as the speed profiles for the main roads seem to be set at 40MPH despite the fact that the are listed at 60 and can be driven at that speed. I found this to be the case in Arizona and Utah. The result was that the routing tried to send you miles out of the way on freeways which were obviously not the way to go.

Just got back from 2 weeks in the Orlando area.

Rented a TT Go 300 from RentaSatNav (at a Special Offer Price).

The map data is very old, freeways are fine, but quite a few roads we drove particularly in the Theme Park/Universal areas (Not the Parks themselves)are missing from the maps. These roads are not small in-significant development roads, but major through roads.

These roads must have been made a good few years ago as they have both significant housing or Hotel complexes along them and in takes some time to build those.

The street on which our apartment complex was on was missing and the Check in desk said that this complex was opened 6 years ago.

Its interesting to note the TT missing roads are on last years Rand McNally paper maps.

Never noticed any routing issues, it took the Freeways/Turnpikes in preference to city streets even on short journeys, a city street may have a reasonable speed rating, but those traffic lights make you wait for ever. Crying or Very sad

Thanks for the comments, now I need to decide wether to take the TT Go or maybe get another unit that has more upto date American map data.

Mind you the amount of new roads being built about Orlando, I don't think it would make much difference.

Thanks for this Smile

I've taken a look and done a little digging. Just one question left.

I don't really want to copy all of the USA from the SD card onto my TT if I'm only going to Florida - can induvidual States be copied? If not how much space do you need and will if fit alongside Europe on the TT700 disk?

Thanks again for your help.

You can copy individual sections of the US onto the disk. Having said that the entire US and Western Europe will fit on the 700 and still leave 20Mb for additional data.
