I've been unsuccessful in installing the Pocket GPS database on a Navman 510 system, and would appreciate some help.

Following the steps detailed on the website, as a first step the zipped database was downloaded from the Pocket GPS Safety Camera Database page. This was successfully unzipped into a created folder on my computer, and comprised about half a dozen CSV files.

The selected file for installation was the example shown in website guidelines, i.e. POCKETGPS_UK_GATSO.CSV. This was loaded into Wordpad to be edited.

According to the guidelines, the first line of the file should have read 'Longitude,Latitude,Name'; and this line was to be deleted. In fact, the first line read 'GATSO:4834@40,Pocket GPS World (c) 2005,-0.32181,51.33441'; and subsequent lines followed a similar format.

As there seemed to be no first line to be deleted, the next step of installation was attempted. The Navman unit was connected to the computer, the Navman SmartST Desktop program opened, and MAP | POIs selected, to open the POI editor.

This was successful, and File | Open was selected and the file POCKETGPS_UK_GATSO.CSV highlighted. As per illustration in the guidelines, the speed camera data should then have been visible. Instead, I received an error box stating that the file type CSV was not recognised.

I would appreciate being advised how to correct this procedure and succeed with the installation. How can the POI Editor not recognise the CSV format when the illustrarted example in these guidelines [Step 4] clearly shows the file name of 'C:\Temp\pocketgps_uk_gatso.csv?

You have used the Destinator .csv files. You need the files found found in the /Other/ Folder.

It would also be better to use Notepad instead of Wordpad.

Many thanks Oldboy. Found the correct file in the 'Other' folder. The logic of two differing folders with the same name [albeit different folders] escapes me ....

The same logic that states that Navigational Devices all have differing systems. Confused
