Hello,

I have a Regulated Car Power Adapter, which can be set for an output of up to 1000mA at 1.5, 3, 4.5, 5, 6, 9 or 12 volts DC, and which is protected by a 1.5amp fuse.

Would it be safe to use this to power my iPAQ 5555 while running navigation or camera database programs in the car?

If so, at which voltage should it be set and should it be set for Positive or Negative tip polarity?

Thank you.

Why not use the power supplies intended for your device? This would avoid any mistakes. However, for reference the power is center +ve @ 5v DC.

Assuming it has the correct plug it'll work but there is always the risk that the voltage selector will get knocked and you could then inject 12v into your PDA by mistake Sad For the sake of a £10 charger I wouldn't want to risk it.
