Hi all,
Just a warning, saw in local paper that they are installing specs cameras on the Orwell Bridge for the duration of bridge maintenance work. Will be 6 to 8 weeks. Not sure if they have started yet, but will be soon.
Have not driven over it yet to check exact locations. Will post them when I know. _________________ Leigh

Hi,
An update on this. I have now had to drive over the bridge, (been avoiding it as traffic has been terrible at peak times!!)
There are new very permanent looking gantries carrying the Specs cameras on the approaches to the Orwell Bridge A14/A12 in both directions. The current limit is 40 mph for the duration of the bridge safety inspections until early July.
However a local contact informs me that they are there to stay, presumably they will be monitoring the normal 70mph limit, unless they decide to lower the limit over the bridge.
Positions
Eastbound shortly after the A137 interchange.
Westbound just after the Shell filling station before the bridge. _________________ Leigh

Hi,
The inspection work has finished ahead of schedule, so the temporary 40 mph speed limit has been lifted.
AKAIK the specs cameras are still in place however, whether they are active or not I do not know.
Advice be careful with your speed over the Orwell bridge and its approaches!! _________________ Leigh

Hi all,
These cameras with their gantries etc. have now been removed, so local rumours about them being permanent were unfounded. _________________ Leigh
