Hi, I've been browsing this and other sites for a while trying to research which gps to buy myself for work. As a total newb to GPS I'm hoping you guys might be able to help. My new job starting in September will involve a lot of travelling around north Wales by car. I will also be using it for pleasure trips around the UK.
Ive borrowed a friends Garmin quest for a few days and found a few issues with it, eg Detailed steets were fine around N.Wales, but ouside of the unlocked area of maps it was vague, giving me duff turns etc. My questions are this:
GPS systems like the quest have no expandable memory so I assume you have to program in the areas of the UK you will be travelling to, and delete them as necessary?
Im also thinking of replacing my phone and came across the orange SPV M2000 PDA phone that can be used as a GPS. does anyone have any experience of this sytem and advise if this would work any better or worse than a dedicated system?
Will third party software like speed camera locations etc work on m2000?
Any general recomendations for my needs?
Many thanks from a confuse newb!

hi tiff welcome to the forum

the m2000 is basicly a rebaged htc machine the same as the xda range from o2 so yes any of the ppc programs will run on it and you will have a choice of gps hardware from bluetooth receivers to wired receivers and some cradles that in corporate gps and an amplified speeker
the pocketgpsworld.com speed camera database can be used with most pocketpc sotware to and is free to use and is updated monthly its also recognized as one of most accurate and complete databases around
