OK i have gone though great lengths to get a new sd card and managed to get a sandisk
i have gone into corporate mode and reinstalled everything .
BUT it is still locking up my phone although if i use it when gprs is already started it seems to work ok , i'll have to test it out on the road tomorrow to see how it really works _________________ TomTom 5001 |

Do you have any other applications loaded, if so try a clean install with just TT V5, if this works then install each application one at a time |

I am also using an XDA2i and TT5. I bought the full TT5 product with TomTom BT receiver. It worked ok the first couple of times, no lockups at all. Then I travelled 20 miles to a local forest and it locked up on the way. I reset it when I got there and it locked up at virtually the exact same place on the way back. I have tried everything to try and use it in flight mode, but if I turn flight mode on, bluetooth won't work.
Now since I have just bought TT5 I am entitled to Traffic for a one month trial. Enabled it and then found TT would lockup while downloading the traffic info. Tried the download while docked to my PC, no problems. So I connected to GPRS, then started TT5, then did a traffic update, works everytime. I have also ordered a Sandisk card after reading other posts, but I think it may be the GPRS causing problems. I am also going to try enabling GPRS before I start a route. Not likely to go anywhere before the weekend though. |

Interesting. I've seen other posts saying they get lockups in exactly the same place each time. So maybe its only when you pickup certain cells that the lockup happens.
It would be very interesting to compile a list of areas/postcodes where this is happening. And then present it to O2 so they can get those cells checked out.
If you're using the O2 network you can even use this: www.webmap.o2.co.uk to check coverage areas. |

i don't think it is that or the sd cards ,i've now been though a kingston ,lexar & now sandisk ,i've also ben though 3 different xda2i's (granted not all the sd cards) but i am still having this problem
even today with a sandisk between crowborough and east grinstead it locked up 7/8 times & some were locked even after a reboot
i have tried my antivirus program and that connects and updates fine no problems ,,ok i know it is a different program
also what i saw was traffic worked fine until i actually placed connected it to the gps unit then th eproblem started ,and seems to have set off some sort of chain reaction because even now it is locking up again
i suppose i might wait till friday (if it's true) and see how it runs after the update comes out _________________ TomTom 5001 |

I am close to seeing if my XDA2i and TT5.10 can swim better than it navigate without locking up . . .
I installed the corporate version when hard reset, and performed a clean install of version 5.10 as requested by the tom tom support team.
TT5.10 works like a dream . . .. if you dont get a phone call (locks up) or dont get a text message (locks up) dont want a traffic update (locks up) - in fact it probably works best if you do not switch it on . . .
After 10 updates to my online question, because getting to play a round of golf with the president is easier than speaking with anyone at tomtom, they replied . . .
"Thanks for the feedback. The issues that you mention should have been resolved with the update to version 5.10. I'll contact our technical team about this, and will get back to you." (yeah, right)
Thanks for the feed back? THANKS?? Maybe it should be us XDA2i users thanking TT for wasting our time getting lost because their update is more premature than me sharing a bed with a supermodel.
I contacted O2, because when someone calls me on my trusty XDA2i (locking up TT) the phone line is totally dead when I answer.
O2 said . . .
"The XDA2i has an upgrade due for release very shortly. We haven’t been given a set date yet, but I would suggest checking the website each day for the update - www.my-xda.com
Hopefully their new ROM will sort this issue . . . TomTom clearly not tested TT5 on an allegedly supported device . . .
Incidently when i ask TT to unlock my TT3 code because my upgrade superceded the activation, they said . . .
"Unfortunately we can't unblock your Product Code for Navigator 3 at the moment, as this was code was blocked when you ordered the Upgrade"
If any one has any solutions, or a sledge hammer, I be very grateful
