Palmtop changes name

Palmtop Software, the global provider of software for mobile devices, has changed its company name to TomTom. This is due to the increased recognition value of the TomTom brand, which historically has been the name of its products for handheld computers and mobile phones. This decision has been made to consolidate the brand as it enters new markets, to become the leading provider of travel products for mobile devices worldwide.



Harold Goddijn, CEO, TomTom said, "Since 1991 we have led the way in developing innovative software applications for mobile phones and handheld computers. With the success of our products in the consumer markets across Europe and now moving into the US we want to avoid any confusion and capitalise on the brand recognition of TomTom. TomTom stands for usefulness, innovation, ease-of-use and a high standard of technology and these values are pertinent to the company as much as the products."
