Hi,

I have spent hours looking up info for a bluetooth GPS + pda solution, but cannot reach a decision on a few things. I would really appreciate if someone can advises on this.

I have a iPAQ rx3715 running Tomtom Navigator 5, and this is paired up with a Tomtom Bluetooth GPS unit. I got the hardware sorted, but I am still pretty undecided on how they are fitted in the car.

I initially thought about using the Brodit Proclip + Passive PDA holder, and mounting in around the middle vent area. But, I have a few concern on this setup:

    1. Would Brodit Proclip leave any marks on the dash or wherever it is mount when it is removed?
I read that there is a bit of tape on the Proclip. As I am driving a company car and will need to return it at some point, I am not too keen to mounts that might leave some permanant mess on the dashboard.
And, if the Proclip does leave some marks, do I have any mounting option other than the windscreen mount? (I am quite keen to keep things off my sight if possible Smile)

    2. Do I need a pda holder with power and speaker integrated?
I gather from the posts on this forum that some newer pdas have volume problems. Is there any rx3715 owner that can advise me on this (Passive/Active/Active+Speaker) dilemma?

    3. If I am getting a active powered pda holder, is it really safe to charge my pda from the cig. lighter?
I am asking this because I have read in somewhere that cig. lighter pda charge has something like a "straight through" wire and will charge my pda up using the 12v from the light which could be bad for my pda battery. Is this really the case?
I realise this is quite a long post, so thanks in advance for all your input.
