PLUS maps include both the country data (in this case Great Britain) and Major Roads of Europe. So you get detailed data for your country and a more basic map of the remainder of Europe.
It's fine for navigating City to City across the continent but will not know the finer details of towns and villages. _________________ Darren Griffin |

So as I have GB Plus installed - is that why the map of france looked so undetailed? Because it was using the major roads one and not the proper one? |

Correct, at the end of the day it's better than nothing and allows cross border navigation. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Yeah - was just that I had installed the French map and didnt realise it wasnt using it - was just dissappointed with the detail level but if it is the major roads that explains a lot!! Will have to go check it out (have now found the 'switch maps' option )
Thanks for the reply. |

I was confused by this as well. TomTom have not done a good job explaining what the (Plus) maps are for.
Do I correctly conclude that, if you're going to install multiple maps, you only install one (Plus) map? |

That is the usual setup. If you travel to France from the UK, you would use France Plus and UK 'normal' maps. _________________ Richard
