This could be the "No POI found" or crash to Today screen bug.
Try Change preferences...Manage POI...Enable/Disable POI and uncheck all the built in POI's. Then try browsing the map again.

Is there a fix for this, or can the software just no tseal with all the POI.
Does this mean you have to keep enable/disabling them when you switch between 3D mode and the map view?
what a pain in the backside! |

I presume that worked?
A partial solution is to use the TTN3 poi.dat file. See related topics.

I you re-enable them for 3D you may experience crashes whilst navigating.

This only applies to the built in POI's. The user POI's such as speed cameras work fine and can be enabled.
Unless you install the TTN3 poi.dat file you need to leave the built in POI's disabled all the time or you may still experience crashes.
I'm afraid I can't help with the TTN3.0 or TTN4.4 poi.dat file. Hopefully TomTom will provide a fix for this soon!!!!
