Tomtom 5 slower than 4 and support useless

Since upgrading from Tomtom 4 to 5 I have been happy with the new features but the speed of recalculation when you do not take a turn is terrible. In the past on 1 route I regularly take Tomtom 4 took about 4 seconds when I passed a turn. Now it recalculates the entire route and I am left without direction or POI's for upto 3 mins. I have enquired with Tomtom but I just got the usual response of email Teleatlas as it must be a map problem. I have now had 3 problems I have contacted them about all to do with the routing software not the maps but they always reply with the same response. 1 of them it takes me off a dual carriageway through a town then rejoins the bypass even though its the same A road. How can this be a map error. Surley the software decides which route to take and should prirotise A roads over a town center.

Also I cannot understand why Tomtom 5 regularly takes me on longer journeys than Tomtom 4 used to. I have even gone as far as copying my TT4 UK map onto my TT5 card so the maps were the same version just to check that 1000's of new roads I was unaware of had been created on my 20 miles journey that now is 24 if I follow Tomtom 5. If I use my major roads of Europe map it adds over 100 miles between London and Italy. Crazy. How can Tomtom blame this all on Teleatlas.

Also after seeing that their PPC upgrade offers the whole of Europe on DVD it seem that they think we are ripe for ripping off. They may well say that they could not supply on cards due to cost but they could have given it on dvd.

Overall I am very disappointed with Tomtom 5 and thinking of just going back to 4 as it worked fine for me.

Has anyone else found these problems and found a workaround? I would have liked to have seen the Motorway options extended to A roads as their software does not seem to differentiate.
