TT3 hand shake problem

My tom-tom setup with an Ipaq 3970 and navman 3000 sleeve has always been
spot on for the past 3 years, along with a re-rad antenna. The past week,
when switched on the satellite hand shake seems to take 20 minutes, when
started the signal is good (7-8) Is this a software thing or something
else

the base tables probably got corrupt and needed to be reloaded (Ephemeris, Almanac). Nothing to worry about - unless this is the first sign of the backup battery dying (this battery normally helps keeping the base data)
