I just got tom tom 5. Downloading it to my mda compact was incredibly easy and it works great. the gps pick up is almost instant and the maps work well. so far. What I have a problem with is the speed camera downloads, how do you tell if the storage card is unlocked? |

if you take the card out and look at it there is a little plastic knob on the side, right next to the "LOCK" label. _________________ Lutz

On the edge of the card is a sliding switch, usually coloured yellow. It has 2 positions.
Sometimes there is an embossed symbol showing a 'closed padlock' and another showing an 'open padlock'. Move it toward the 'open padlock'. _________________ Richard

thanks for replying Richard, but the problem I have is that there is absolutely nothing on the card bar the tom tom sticker. I know what other cards have such as a little lock symbol or the work 'lock' with a directional arrow but I can confirm that tom tom's has nothing, just the little white sliding switch.

on most cards the switch is locked when it is moved away from the contacts side. _________________ Lutz

Done it, I finallygot the speed cameras loaded via POI Edit which I didnt find that easy, but it certainly was easier (and more productive) than any other attempt I made copying and pasting directly which incidently didnt work and only succeeded in corrupting my GB map file! So if you are as useless as me at anything slightly technical, make sure you download POI Edit, it really helps! Also tom tom, it would help if you labeled your cards properly, we're not all I.T. experts! |
