survey calcs

I am looking for a handheld GPS (with mapping) to use for sailing but I would also like to use it for survey calcs such as calculating the area enclosed by a series of waypoints.
I have a friend with an old Garmin which does such calcs but the newer models don't seem to have the capability.

The OS Memory Map stuff will calculate area in an enclosed track, but only on the PC - you need to download the track from you PDA into the main PC. Not too sure if it will do this straight on the PDA as I have not tried it and have deleted OS from the PDA at the moment - Mike
