which is quicker at transfer speeds:

a USB card reader, or an 802.11b wifi connection (assuming the pda will be relatively near to the PC i am transfering files from). I'm waiting for my new wifi kit to arrive from ebay , so i have no idea on the real world transfer times on wifi at the moment.

The reason i ask is i have an iPaq hx2410, and i will be updating my copy of TTN3 to TTN5 next week. And i will be wanting to do the dreaded map transfers soon. Origionally when i bought the 2410, i also had to buy a card reader, so i could transfer the maps on to the sd card. This all happened because active sync wont allow maps any bigger than the area of a rugby pitch to be transfered in one go, so obviously when i became all unreasonable and wanted my pda to be able to use the full UK map, active sync spat its dummy, and i had to buy the card reader.

Also is active sync able to work through a wifi connection to my pda, or does it sit in the corner sulking and doing its best to freeze the computer it is installed on?

Well USB2 can send up to 480Mbps and Wifi 54Mbps, i would say stick with the USB2 connection as you cannot get more reliable than a physical connection.

USB 2? i'm afraid not.

My USB hub is a powered 7 way usb v1.1, so i dont have the luxury of a USB v2 connection to my card reader.

So back to my origional questions:

Which is quicker, a USB (v1.1) card reader ot an 802.11b wifi connection?

Is active sync able to work through a wifi connection to my pda, or does it sit in the corner sulking and doing its best to freeze the computer it is installed on?

Oh and the wifi on the 2410 as stated is 802.11'B', so obviously it wont be physicly capable of a 54 Mbps connection (that would only be possible if the wifi standard offered was 802.11g)....

USB 1.1, Has enough bandwidth to send data at up to 1.5 mbps low speed devices and 12 mbps for faster devices.

802.11'B' It provides 11megabits per second (Mbps) throughput on a 2.4 GHz band

Hope this helps Evil
