Maybe the wrong forum, so no problem if you want to move it mods.
I now have about twelvety zillion POI files for my fast approaching month in France. Is there an easy way to join these together? for example, I have Carrefour, intermarche, Atak and Geant. I would like to put all these under a single category (so I can store important stuff like McDonalds)

When you do combine them, you'll need to edit the descriptions to say what type they are. As a (UK) example, suppose you had a category called M&S and one called Woolworths - and you wanted to combine them into one called Shops. The M&S file would have POI descriptions which were just the locations - like Cheltenham, Gloucester, etc. But in the combined file, you would need them to say M&S Cheltenham, Woolworth Cheltenham, etc.
In my experience, the best way to do this is to put them all in an Excel spreadsheet - where you can insert a column for the M&S /Woolworth bit - and then use a formula to combine the type/location columns into a single string for each entry. [There are one or two other steps needed, but if you are familiar with manipulating text strings in Excel, it's easy enough]. Finally, save as a .csv text file and convert to a .ov2 POI file. _________________ Roger
