Tom Tom CF Card problen

Having read a few posts re the same issues ive tried all the suggestions and got nowhere

I have a Dell X50 with a generic Ebay bought CF gps card. All was fine for 2 months until my battery went flat on the gps unit although I didnt lose any data from my PDA the cf card cannot now aquire a signal. Ive tried reinstalling Tomtom thinking it could of ciorrupted the install whent the battery went

What happens is the card is recognized i select as i used to nmea card on CF_GENERIC and nothing the dots on the tomtom control panel are moving accross and the light on the card flashes red I left it in this state for 45 mins and gave up ive since tried the winfast navigator selected the correct set-up. With this program the diagram shows its seeing sats as you I can see from the diagram the sats are moving but again the unit flashes red and wont lock Ive left this outside in this state for near 2 hours with nothing.

It shouldnt take this long should it? Whereas when i first recieved the unit this proccess took 10 mins,

Ive run out of ideas it seems to be partially working but just wont lock onto sats.

Any ideas???
