Hey folks.
You've probably heard all this a hundred times before... Rolling Eyes

Decided to buy myself a GPS unit for when I'm out and about walking, cycling, canoeing, etc...

As a complete beginner, I'm blinded by the information surrounding what to get, so I'm after some recommendations.
I live in the UK by the way.

I'm off to Canada a few times over the next year or so (maybe eventually emigrating) so would want something that I could use both here and there. Are these things "universal" or is it a case of buying something that is able to accept additional maps, etc?

To what scale do these things work? I mean will I get the same detail on screen as I would on a 1:25,000 OS map?

Any recommendations around the £90 - £250 range? I was looking at perhaps the Magellan SporTrak or maybe...well, I dunno. I was looking for some pointers really! Laughing
Help? Confused

If you get Memory Map for Pocket PC you can use the 1:25,000 OS maps themselves.

That's assuming I was going to get a pocket PC first! Confused

I'm looking at the Magellan Meridian Gold and some Mapsend Software. They do a Topographic Canada map which looks like it could be just the ticket.

Anybody use one of these?
Pros/Cons?

Cheers.
