Which way to go from here?

Hi guys,
I have an old Ipaq 3630 (stop laughing at the back)
I already have TT3 software and a car charger for the Ipaq.
I also have a pcmcia jacket, a CF card adapter and 256 mb CF card.
As I see it, there are 2 routes I can go from here.
I can buy something like this....

which I can just slot the Ipaq into, slot a cf card with maps into the
cf card slot, plug the charger in and off we go.
The advantage being that it could also be used using its own battery on a push bike or walking.
The alternative is to buy something like this......

which although sounding very good on paper, would need to be connected
to the car to be used so biking and walking are out of the question.
The main use would be for in the car though so I guess the $64,000 is
which works best?
Any adcice appreciated.

Me again,
To make it even more interesting, I've just remembered that you can buy Compact Flash cards with GPS lumps which would be more or less the same as the Navman for where they could be used.
My head is starting to hurt now,
