Uprading but to what?

I already have the following:

Tom Tom 2 plus wired GPS receiver
IPAQ 3970 plus 256SD Card
Sony Ericsson P910i

Tom Tom on my IPAQ has proven troublesome, with it crashing and needed lots of reboots, and defaulting during a journey to the map stored in memory rather than on the SD card.

I now need to do lots of miles and want to ensure a less stree free journey. Looking around it all gets a bit confusing:

I want to have handsfree operation of my mobile and satnav with TMC and Camera warning.

I had thought about installing a Parrot CK3300 and upgrading the software on my IPAQ to the latest Tom Tom, but will this give me TMC, if so what costs are involved? With my Tom Tom 2 issues I'm worried they wont go away and the system will keep crashing at the vital moment.

Am I better off buying the latest TomTom Go and forgetting Parrot? Will this give me everything I needs?

Wow, TomTom 2 is really old. Although version 2.24 should run without major issues. Any crashes you see are either due to bad storage cards (Sandisk China anyone?) or not enough RAM when TomTom runs (use a task manager)

You should upgrade to TomTom Navigator 5 - you will see it's very stable. It does not have TMC, but it offers traffic updates via GPRS (your mobile phone comes in handy)
