TomTom not keeping BC-307 setup

I have recently purchased a lovely Dell Axim X50v and based on the reviews on Pocket GPS World and the deals on eBay I purchased a BC-307x.

I am still assessing which Navigation software to buy (suggestions please???), however I have managed to borrow a copy of TomTom Navigator 2004 (4.4) off my next door neighbour to test my new hardware. The problem is that everytime I load TomTom the GPS config has been lost.

Anyone have any experience of this?

TomTom do officially NOT support CF receivers for TTN4. Only serial (COM1) and BT receivers are supported.
