hi,

i downloaded this hoping it would fix the problem of being unable to use other gps software whilst its installed. but i still have problems.

the only way i can use other gps software is to uninstall tomtom gps each time.

am i doing something wrong?

thanks

Paul, did you upgrade to 3.07 or fresh install. You make no mention of what GPS you are using, but I guess it will a BT one as you mention 3.07. Have you read the article "stickied" at the top of the TomTom forum about BT for dummies?

It is excellent.

Also what type of PDA you have also effects the way it works.

You usually cannot run more than one application at a time for GPS on Pocket PC, although there are products such as GPSGate which circumvent this very well.

thanks for the reply, couldnt find that thread you were talking about.

i upgraded to 3.07. I uninstalled the original gps and installed the latest.

yes i`m using a BT gps. its the emtac crux. and I`m using an ipaq 4150 pda.

currently i`m keeping backup copies of the 3.07 install, so when i need to use another package i have to uninstall the tomtom gps. then the other package can comminicate with the gps. then if i want to use tomtom again, i reinstall from the backup copy.

found the guide, its the BT gps for smarties guide right?

didnt really see anything that i havent done already, apart from installing and older v2.06. i did notice that if i uninstall tomtom gps , it completely removes it. which differs to the guide, which says it only removes it from the registry, freeing up the com port.

There are other tips from other users, such as hx4700's work without the GPS driver from TomTom (you will still need the GPS TomTom GPS system though). Install the GPS 3.07 and driver now you have removed it and it should be ok (well it was on my hx4700 anyway).

link to the dummies is http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=16711
