I have just purchased a Dell Axim X30 & Tomtom Navigator 3 software with wired GPS receiver and the car kit.

I would like to be able to sit in my garden and play with the features of
the software. At the moment I have to be in the car, as the satellite
aerial plugs into the side of the PDA holder with some kind of serial
connector.
Is it possible to get a converting cable that will let me plug the GPS
receiver into the connector on my Dell AXIM. If so where could I find it.
Thanks

Ian

As far as I am aware this is not possible.

The GPS receiver requires power from the car battery albeit at a reduced voltage. In your case this is provided via the PDA mount which reduces the voltage to the required 5v.
The PDA battery would not have enough juice to sustain power to it.

you could get a 240 to 12v transformer from maplins some wire and a lighter socket from them or from your car accessory shop should allow you to use the system outside the car or getting a bluetooth reciver would be the other way

Come to think of it... An even simpler solution would to get a car battery and connect a cigarette lighter socket to it.... Job done. Thumbs Up
