I hope there is some one out the that can throw some light on this problem.

This is all very new to me. I purchased a complete setup off Ebay comprising Ipaq 1940 + bluetooth GPS reciever BT-77, and running Tomtom 3 software.
After many head scratching hours got it running, and worked well, but then I go to use it again, program in destination, and it will just sit there saying "GPS position not reliable"
The first time I got it I just carried on, and suddenly it kicked into life.
It has now happened several times, and my gut feeling is that the BT-77 is not man enough for the job, and struggles to get a decent signal.

Would you think I can get over the problem with a better quality GPS receiver, or perhaps getting an aerial.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Chris

There may be a different reason for this - TomTom expects you to be at - or at least close to - a street. Otherwise it will refuse to calculate a route. So if you try this from your home, or even from a parking lot, you may not get any guidance until you have entered the road network as it is known to TomTom.

Thanks Lutz.
I will give it a go.
It would be a shame for it to go back to just being a personell organiser.

Since having this setup, I can well see why there are so many posts on this forum.
