Hello again guys.
Anyone who has read my last post will know that im looking at the options of a flip screen 1-DIN LCD monitor for my new car.
Now as luck would have it i mentioned it to my boss yesterday, and he duly pulled out a dusty old box with an Alpine Alpine NVE-N055P + IVA-M700R.
Now i don't know much about this device at all, and i cant find much about it on google, but i do no that its a sat nav system with LCD monitor. Has anyone ever used this item and does anyone have any comments or reccomendations to make about it?
I would also really appreciate it if someone could inform me whether or not this item would be compatible with tomtom navigator or any recent POI (speed camera) software.
Your help would be much appreciated.
Cheers

sorry to pull the fun plug but that device is definitely not compatible with TomTom. It will only run its own proprietary software, not TomTom's proprietary software. _________________ Lutz

Thanks Ibendlin.
I expected that really, as it seems to be quite a specialist thing.
Does anyone else have one of these units then? And would anyone reccomend it as a good system?
The whole idea behind getting a sat nav system was for speed camera detection really, so is this completely impossible on this unit?
Any further information really would be much appreciated, and im sorry for asking so many questions.
Thanks a lot

I have managed to find this web page on an Alpine sat nav system.
And this on the Alpine web site
They are pretty specialist as it will only run maps specifically designed for it (at a price upwards of £100 per region).
Although you want a large screen (and who wouldn't) if you are looking for safety camera support you may have to put it back into it's dusty box and look at a PDA or PNA system. _________________ Ian.
