Some of you may be aware that I had my TTG stolen over the weekend, from what I know to be an insecure carpark.

I mentioned in a post earlier about having a POI set for less than desirable areas to park. Thinking more on this I doubt it would be that easy to get local authorities to admit to insecure car park locations. What they admit to are sites they class as secure, ie. with enhanced security.

I remember some time ago seeing on TV an article about an award winning state of the art car park, although I forget where it was.

I realise that your car/possesions can never be 100% secure, but at least if we had a way of compiling the more secure areas - we could make an educated choice on where to leave our cars.

Todays lesson - don't leave your SatNav mount on display in your car 8O

Nice idea, but to my mind, would be unrealistic to compile. For instance, i live in Birmingham, there are thousands of public car parks dotted around the city. It would take forever to find out which are the safest to park up in.

It goes without saying really, in this day and age there is NO safe spot to park your car, whether it be car park, or out on the road.

You should NEVER leave valuables on display in your car, CD's, tapes, Sat Nav mounts (-ahhh, he must have a sat nav system inside the car ??), change from petrol etc.

There is always some degenerate out there that wants your stuff! Lock it!, or Lose it! Exclamation

There is a national car park award scheme - I know because one of my local shopping centres is a past winner. Maybe a new database could be started like the safety camera database which as far as I know exists because of members of this site reporting their locations. The trouble is it would be very subjective. I can see car park owners like NCP getting a bit tetchy if some their car parks were listed as "unsafe" without objective evidence. Its a good idea though all the same.

I can understand your concerns, perhaps if only 'safe' car parks were listed. This then enables the driver to make an educated decision on their chosen location.

Trouble is what is there to stop some unscrupulous person putting their favourite thieving car park on the database. Then waiting for everyone to leave their cars there thinking they would be safe and then having your Sat Nav unit away as soon as your back is turned Crying or Very sad
