What's the difference between cameras in pocketgps_uk_gatso, and cameras in pocketgps_uk_gatso_30? I'm confused because there are some cameras near where I live that appear in pocketgps_uk_gatso_30, while others which are also in a 30mph zone appear in pocketgps_uk_gatso. Is the intention that eventually all cameras will be in the appropriate speed-related file?

Also, what are the cameras in pocketgps_uk_temp?

There are two distinct options, the standard database and the speed zoned version (the _30, _40, _50 etc versions). Some applications can utilise speed zoned databases so the warnings can take account of the speed in force. Currently our database does not have speed data for every camera site but we are working on it gradually.

Which one you use is up to you assuming your hardware can use either, devices such as GO cannot for example.

Hi geraint,

Have a look at the Beginner’s guide to the PocketGPSWorld camera database. It should hopefully answer all of your questions. Thumbs Up

Darren - I have the zoned versions on my TTG, and they work. The only files I can't use are the .WAV files. I do use the modified Data.chk file to simiulate the different speed spoken warnings.

As you're an NTL customer you cannot, the proxy is at NTL's end and their Inktomi Cache's are notorious! I've emailed you the latest update directly.

So are you saying that I only need to download pocketgps_uk_gatso OR the complete set of speed-zoned files?

I know this to be untrue actually, because there are a couple of cameras in a 30 mph zone my town which are in pocketgps_uk_gatso but not in pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick Confused

You've got the wrong end of the stick.

In the speed-zoned folder there is also a file ending _tba. This file contains all the cameras for which the speed limit hasn't been verified. Your 30mph cameras will be in there. If you can identify them and let Oldie know which they are, they will be moved into the _30 file for the next release.

... and as it no-ne else has answered the last bit of your question - the "Temp" cameras are exactly that - Temporary camera sites such as those used on Motorway road works etc. - Equally important to know about them - you still get the FULL version of the fine and Penalty points Embarassed !!!!
