Mike
Any chance of an update following your meeting with TomTom yesterday?
It appears Firmware v5 may be out by the end of the month, there is confusion over whether a charge will be made for the upgrade and the "new" Go's will not be available until probably June.
An update would be gratefully received by all of us.

Give the man chance to have his "Tea & Toast"
tomTom will release the V5 update when it's ready. What's all the rush, same happened last year with version 4.40 or whatever.
I think TomTom should keep quiet about updates, and release them when their ready to. this way it would stop ALL speculation, and rumours. _________________ Using an A to Z

Sorry for not replying earlier, I have been out for the weekend.
I was unable to get a definitive answer from TomTom regarding the upgrade release. I was told 1 to 2 weeks. The problem causing the delay is with the documentation accompanying the upgrade.
It will not be a free upgrade, but will include more up to date maps and the new Version 5.0 software. I am waiting for the official press release from TomTom defining the upgrade procedure and pricing, and will publish that as soon as it arrives. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Mike
You indicate that the upgrade will including revised maps AND the new Version 5.0 software, this appears to be new information. It had been assumed, obviously incorrectly, that Version 5 would be separate from any revised maps.
Thanks for the info, we can but wait for the final details |

When we were at CeBIT we were told that there would be a Version 5.0 upgrade from 4.x available, which would be software only, no maps. We were told that this would be free. Having said that I have not heard anything about that since CeBIT.
A version upgrade which includes maps will be available soon for a charge. As I mentioned above I am waiting for the official TomTom press release before we know exactly what they will be offering and how much it would be. _________________ Mike Barrett |

It looks as though everybody is getting told different things, You for instance was told the version 5 software upgrade would be free, now your told it's going to be charged, but with maps included. Is it possible that there is going to be TWO versions available, Software only and software/Map version, the latter being the chargable one??.
Just a thought, as TomTom don't seem sure themselves. _________________ Using an A to Z

That really is about the size of it. I am sure that TomTom know exactly what is going to happen, but they want everything in place ready to go when the full announcement is made.
As far as we were aware at CeBIT we were told that there would be a software only update available and a software and map update. We now just have to wait for TomTom to tell us exactly what is available and how the process will work. _________________ Mike Barrett |
