Hi

I have just bought a HP 1710 with wired Tom Tom GPS. Whenever I open the Tom Tom application the only message I ever get is no GPS signal! I have got a Peugeot 306 and have tried placing the receiver everywhere! The green light flashes on the receiver. Whenever I go to GPS Status or configure it says no GPS device.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Are you getting "No GPS Device" or "The GPS Signal was lost x seconds ago"?

Go to preferences > GPS and make sure TomTom Cable GPS is selected.

It says GPS lost for xx seconds and never seems to find it.

In Preferences it says No GPS Device even when I select Tom Tom Cable GPS.

I dont understand coz the green light on the GPS device is flashing.

Is that any help?

Its a pain ;0)

Cheers,

turn it all on in the car and place the gps receiver on the car roof not while driving though and see if you can get a singal if you can then you have an athermic or heat reflective windscreen i think it is and youll need to put the gps somewhere it can get a signal usually just behind the rear view mirror make sure tomtom cable gps is selected with baud rate to 4800

Ive tried putting it outside the sunroof and allsorts yet it still says signal lost --- seconds etc Shud my GPS receiver LED be flashing or constantly on? Is this a common problem? maybe it is my cradle or my receiver? Tom Tom software does not give me the option to set baud rate of cable Tom Tom receiver.

Thanks,

Wez

The cable receiver is always at 4800 , so there's no need to set the baud rate.

Have you disabled the beam receive and any keyboard driver you may have?

How long are you waiting? Try a soft reset of the 1710 and then launch TomTom and try again. Give it 30 mins or so.

Hi,

I performed a soft reset and then started everything back up. The GPS receiver had a complete view of the sky attatched to the roof of my car. Waited for 1 hour and still nothing. Any suggestions?

Many thanks,

Wez
