|
|
I've got a new Qtek 9100, which have a mini-usb connector.
Is it possible to wire my Tomtom GPS to the mini-usb connector?
I guess only Tx & RX could be connected, because mini-usb is 3.3V.
Any advis would be much appreciated! |

DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS! You will destroy both the receiver and the phone.
USB is NOT compatible with RS232. _________________ Lutz

You cannot connect any wired GPS.
BT is the only way to connect a GPS for your PDA. _________________ Pc-Mobile

A general RS232 to USB converter can be bought in most computer stores!
My PDA has a mini USB converter, so it should be possible to:
Wire the TX and RX wires from the GPS, connect then to the Converter, attach a USB to Mini USB wire, and connect to the PDA!(?) |

Do not waste time.
It will not work.
That was why the statement "there is no such thing". _________________ Pc-Mobile

In a USB connection you have a client and a host (the host has the logic to drive the communication. your PDA is a CLIENT, the GPS is a CLIENT. You cannot connect two USB clients together, except if you have a special USB Host cable (which has the driving logic integrated into the cable)
If you had a Toshiba or Asus PocketPC you could enable USB Host on the PDA, and could connect a USB GPS (maybe - you may still need special drivers on the PPC side)
As said before RS232 adn USB signaling and voltage levels are completely different. _________________ Lutz
