used checkpoint to record 2 mobile camera positions but when I try to add them I can only choose from...
unknown
speed camera
red light and speed camera
red light
remove false POI

there's no way to add a mobile or temporary position

Mio 168
TTN3 UK Map

If you select speed camera, it offers a further menu with the most commonly used speeds, if not a fixed speed camera, there is a more option to offer other options. I think mobile are on the last page.

However, if you are trying to update the pocketgpsworld database (I'm not sure CheckPOInt has a temporary camera database) then this isn't necessarily the best way.

checkpoint does have a temp camera database but I want to store them in the "mobile" camera database... guess I'll have to try it again next time I'm out

I have noticed a couple of mobile cam positions are not correct, one was even in a field

I use GPSAssist, but the method for CheckPOInt 2.02 is similar.

I’ve assigned Hardware key 4 as my “new location” logging button in GPSAssist. When I hit that GPSAssist remembers the location and I then save it in one of the predetermined POIs. In CheckPOInt you just have the one, which I’d call CheckPOInt or “New cameras” etc.

When I get to home, I copy the relevant POI .OV2 file from my PPC and use Richard’s POIConvertor to create an .ASC file from the .OV2 file.

I use MS Notepad to read the .ASC file. I then have the longitude and latitude of the new/moved cameras, which I send off to Richard with the necessary additional information like speed limit, road name and number, etc.

Regards,

When I record a new camera location and speed limit, how do I find the speed limit that I noted at the time?

All I can seem to find on the "recorded POI" section of checkpoint is the Lat/Long and time/date of recording.

I must admit I did not copy the file across to my PC - would that have given me more info?

Thanks
Nick.
