I have just ordered a iCN 510 and I would like to buy Tele Atlas maps for some of Europe. I am guessing they are suitable but they are expensive so I was hoping someone could confirm they are compatable and also the process to upload them to the unit.

Your help is really appreciated as I am new to all of this.

Kevin

You say that you've ordered a 510 already; do you know what maps are supplied with it? Given your username I'm guessing that you're in the U.K. so unless you have ordered the "Premium" version, you'll get maps of the British Isles and the European basemap. The European basemap covers major roads in Europe but doesn't allow for street-level routing there. You'd need to buy the V3 maps for the rest of Europe which cost £149.

If you did order the Premium Edition, you get full EU* aps at street-level in the package.

* More like Western Europe, so not including Greece, Turkey or the new entries to the EU.

Hi Tim

I purchased the base unit with UK street level maps. Like you said the unit comes with major roads in Europe. I am hoping to add street level for France and street level for Menorca (for my holidays).

I have emailed Tele Atlas and asked them if their maps are compatible with the iCN 510 and I am waiting for a responce.

Does anyone run Tele Atlas maps on their iCN 510?

All maps which run on the 510 are made using TeleAtlas-supplied data, but they are made to work with the iCN by Navman. You need Navman maps to work with the iCN, specifically Navman SmartSTPRO V3 maps.

They are available from Navman via their Online Store. Click here for details.

If you can you may be best to return your iCN510 and get the premium iCN510, with detail for all of Europe - this is probably the cheapest way to get all the maps you need.
