:D Hey
Just purchased my TomTom Go and WOW what a piece of kit :o WELL IMPRESSED.
Question Question Only problem I have is loading the camera database. I downloaded all the files from Pocket GPS World and installed the OV2 and BMP files. The cameras now show up on the TomTom when you pass them but no verbal warnings Question Question
I noticed some excel files as well, do i need to add those to the TomTom as well Question
Any help greatly appreciated :D
Cheers
Rog

You need to go to Change preferences/Maintain POI/Warn when near POI and then select a warning sound and distance for each and every camera category. I recommend that you leave unchecked the "Warn only if POI is on route?" box. You may then get a few false alarms - but at least you won't miss any!

Hi Blinkey,

Welcome to the forum! Thumbs Up

All you need are the .OV2 and .BMP files, you don’t need the excel files. For a more detailed explanation please read the Beginner’s guide to the PocketGPSWorld camera database.

Regards,

Cheers! Cheers for the info and AMAZINGLY quick response Surprised
I will try what you have suggested ad let you know.
On another point, is it worth buying the post code overlay software from EBay for £3 ish or wait until TomTom bring out v.5 with it on? I'm thinking along the 'will it be the same and work ok' route?
Many THANKS

You don't need to buy anything from Ebay - the postcode files are available for free download, just like the camera files.

Allegedly, they will be made redundant by V5. Be aware though that, either way, they take up several tens of MB, and won't fit on the 128 meg card supplied with TTG, so you'll need a bigger card. You should be able to get a 256MB SD card for under 20 quid like I did - though many people suggest goimg for a 512MB or even 1GB card, depending on what maps and POIs you want to have available concurrently.

It's been removed for legal reasons.

Wait for V5 and it is built in!!

I got mine from 7-Day Shop (Mail order - Guernsey)
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_4_401_40105&products_id=27882
About 15 quid for 256MB - but they also do 512MB (£27) and 1GB (£51)

I got the postcodes from http://tim.odonnell.co.uk/ttg/ - but the site doesn't always seem to work.

But be aware that there are a lot of Postcodes missing from all the free download files. This was being updated, but has stopped in anticipation of V5's use of full Postcodes.

Cheers! Cheers again Roger & Richard. I've just purchased a 512Mb SD card from 7 day shop (£30.50 all in!) and downloaded the postcodes from the tim o'donnell site. Just got to load it all up now and hope it works!
Does anyone know if there will be a map database for Canada being created?
Cheers again
