Updating tom tom maps

Ive got a Hp1710 Pocket pc with the bundled Tom Tom Navigating System and having troubles trying to update the tom tom.

Recently ive done a lot of travelling around the uk and ive noticed majority of the new roads around the uk are not on the tom tom, its showing a green area and it should be a road. Also is there a way of showing restrictions on roads ie, Low Bridge and weight restrictions through towns.

Anyones help here will be appriciated Thankyou.

With pretty much all PocketPC systems (and factory fitted in-car ones also) you cannot 'update' the maps as such.

For factory fit in-car systems a new map CD is produced every year which contains the latest map data and you have the option to buy this although they can cost between £150 and £250 each!

With PocketPC systems, the manufacturers tend to release new map data as part of an upgrade to the application. TomTom have done this with V1 - V2 and V2 - V3. Their will be an upgrade for v3 and TomTom HP Navigation Bundle users to V5 available April - May, the application upgrade will be free for registered users whilst the map data upgrade is expected to cost approx Euro 39.

TomTom does not have the facility to route or warn of low bridges, narrow roads or weight restrictions.
