I bought a new 512 card for my navman 510 and reloaded maps until i nearly filled the card (cost of card was £30.00) since i used this card the navman freezes and reloads the maps every time i switch it on, also takes ages sometimes up to half an hour to get a fix...I tried another sd card again 512 and had the same problem so i replaced the ORIGINAL NAVMAM CARD and hey presto no further problems..peformance back to normal... could it be the fact that the 512 cards could be of cheap quality i wonder, - has anyone else experienced this problem - tnx for replies. |

I seem to recall that Navman only support cards up to 256MB? You may wish to call their support desk and clarify this? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I've reloaded my UK mapping onto a Kingston 256MB card because I was running out of memory adding lots of POI. I've loaded several countries onto a Kingston 512MB card and been busy routing my next trip abroad without any noticeable difference in performance. _________________ Navman iCN 520 |

On Navman's web-site they offer as part of their accessories "SanDisk" 256MB, 512MB and 1GB cards for the 510. _________________ Navman iCN 520 |

Fair enough, perhaps I am confusing this limitation with the PPC version of SmartST _________________ Darren Griffin |

See the posts following RGCS's post on 8th April for further information. Navman recommend a fast version of the SD card. They did recommend that you should use only up to 512Mb but now it seems that the 'fast' 1Gb cards are acceptable. The Kingston cards work perfectly on my unit. _________________ Gee-Pee

I've recently put a 1Gb Sandisk Extreme card in mine in anticipation of buying the European street level mapping ready for our summer jaunt.
No problems at all, in fact it seems a little easier and fractionally quicker freshing the screen when moving the map around than when I had the 512Mb Kingston card in. |

I've bought a Kingston Pro 512 Mb 60x and a Sandisk Ultra II 1Gb both work fine. Much faster at loading the maps/calculating routes.
Only word of warning, back up your card to CD or DVD as some POI files can corrupt the data on the map.
Loaded a B&Q POI off www.poihandler.com only 20 sites listed but had 100 sites on map and couldn't delet them either. Had to reload all of the other POI from my default backup.
Aslo on the Euro Issue you can't navigate from GB to Europe I just get an error |

What error What maps have you installed on the card
I have no trouble in setting routes from UK right across Europe. I only install map areas where I want to stay for a while plus the Basemap of Europe. Seems to work well for me. Just disappointed that there are no maps of former Eastern Bloc countries such as CZ, SL, HR where I also travel. _________________ Gee-Pee

Thanks Gee-Pee
My fault. I had the "Avoid Ferries" box ticked. _________________ Navman iCN 520 |
