Hi guys.

Hope someone can help me out.

I have an iPaq 2210, and am considering the BC-307 as my GPS solution (having read a few recommendations on here).

Anyway. My question is this - Is it worth paying the extra for the 307X (XTRAC), or should I just go for the standard 307 ???

It will be mostly used for in-car Sat-Nav (TomTom3). However, I would like to try a bit of "Geocaching", so would the XTrac version be better for that ???

Does the XTrac slow down or cause problems with TT3, such as time delay ??? Also, can the unit be "switched" between the 2 modes, as some other units can ???

Please help, as I need to get on with buying the (hopefully) right GPS solution soon.

Thanks
Craig

I believe - though am not sure - that the only unit switchable between XTrac and standard SiRF firmware is the Fortuna Clip On.

Be aware that the SiRFstar III units, which are beginning to emerge, will hopefully have all the advantages of both XTrac and standard SiRF firmware with none of the disadvantages. I've yet to try a SiRFstar III based GPS, but hopefully it will soon be possible to get a feel of how good or bad it really is.

Notable forthcoming SiRFstar III based units include the new TomTom Bluetooth GPS, as seen in the TomTom Mobile 5 material.
